WORKOUT
Wow! This morning's run was SO AWESOME - even if I did start at 3:40 in the morning! It was another Endurance Run with Surges (like the one I did on Tuesday). This time I got in 10.9 miles in 1:35. BUT...the big news is that I FINALLY got into UPPER zone 3 during ALL my surges!!!! I have been trying to do this for weeks and I finally had a breakthrough this morning!
I attribute the breakthrough to my positive mental attitude. I kept telling myself I could do this, that I was an athlete and to push through. There were times I wanted to quit, but I kept pushing myself. I wanted to give 100% today and not regret only giving 80%. And I DID IT!!!! WOO HOO!!!
Guess I should listen to Coach Jeff. He believed I could run faster and that I could get into that zone, but I doubted myself. Well today I didn't. I put away all negativity and focused on the task at hand...kicking this run in the butt! Mission accomplished!
DEVOTIONAL
The reason this morning's run was SUPER early is because it's Thursday! Made to Crave bible study at 5:30am! This group of girls is a real blessing to me. So glad I'm going...
Today we focused on the word "PEACE". And how nothing tastes as good as PEACE feels.
Our scripture was from Romans.
Romans 14:19-20
19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.
Wow! Those are some powerful words. I love that. God specifically tells us not to destroy His work for the sake of food!!! So we should obey and do what we know is right. Our goal for the week is to exchange guilt for peace. And to remember that our weight loss goals should not be the number on the scale, but PEACE when we step on the scale.
ASH WEDNESDAY
I attended my first ever Ash Wednesday service at my church last night. It was awesome. I left feeling inspired, empowered and blessed. God really does love us. We just have to be willing to humble ourselves, seek humility, ask for repentance and rid ourselves of pride-fullness and accept His love.
I have to show you my dinner from last night because it ROCKED. This is how it broke down:
5 oz. lean ground beef
1 cup mixed greens w/ 4 almonds, 1 T balsamic vinegar & 1 T olive oil
1 cup fresh sautéed green beans
500 calories
It was sooo good and sooo simple! That's what I love about Paleo. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just lean protein, good fats and good carbs. I seriously could eat this meal every night and be perfectly happy.
Breakfast, lunch and snack all the same today (sorry, boring I know!)
Valentine Dinner: Roy grills the most delicious steaks and so every Valentine's Day he cooks the protein and I do the veggies. It's become our tradition since we don't like to fight crowds and pay for over-priced Valentine dinners. NOT buying into the hype!
I picked up some gorgeous steaks at the Meat Shop and I'll be having a baked sweet potato and salad with mine. Roy likes roasted white potatoes, so I'm preparing those for him...as his Valentine treat! No chocolate for us...we're focused and moving forward!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY everyone. Hope your day is as good as mine has been so far...
Run, Bible Study, Hubby! :) <3
