LENT UPDATE: WEEK 4!
For those who think sacrificing something for 40 days is easy, guess again. However, I will say as time goes on, it IS getting easier because I'm putting my trust in God and craving Him instead of food! I think the first 3 weeks were the hardest for me. It seemed so unfair that everyone else around me was eating junk food and cake and fried stuff. But then I had to remember my sacrifice and re-focus on what was important. My commitment to the Lord.
Here are some interesting facts from the last week:
Total calories from food temptations that I turned down
(that normally I would've eaten): 5,560!!!!!! That's nearly 1.5 pounds right there!
Total pounds lost this week: 3.8!!!!!
Total pounds lost since Lent started: 8.8!!!!!
God has been with me every step of the way. I could not do this without Him. Trust me, I've tried! I am praying for all my girlfriends out there who are continuing on this journey with me...stay strong, only 25 days to go.
WORKOUT
Today was a rest day, so only 30 minutes of Yoga was on the schedule for this morning. It sure was nice to sleep in and just do it at home. :) I don't get to many "easy" days, and before working with Coach, I rarely took a rest day at all. So I am learning to enjoy and embrace the easy days, giving my body time to repair and recover.
DEVOTIONAL
Today's scripture hit home for me. Think about it. When you don't do what you know you should, it's sin. So when I am tempted, if I don't walk away and give in to the temptation, I am sinning.
James 4:17
17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
The last thing I want to do is hurt God's feelings by sinning. He gave up so much for me. Surely I can give up something small for Him. Any little compromise just gives Satan a foot in the door. Don't do it. Slam the door in his face and call on the Lord to rescue you! I have done this so many times over the last month...and EVERY time, God has given me the strength to overcome. I pray He does this for you too!
MEALS
Breakfast: still eating the eggs and leftover veggies with blueberries
Lunch: same old same old...chicken breast, broccoli, sweet potato/apple/walnut bake
Snack: protein smoothie
Dinner: Almond flour & egg white baked fish sticks (so thankful for a hubby that brings home Bass every time he goes fishing!), steamed veggies and roasted new potatoes
I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! My friend Elaine is having her baby today and we'll FINALLY get to meet little baby Mahalin!
Tell me in the comments how you're doing on your Lent sacrifices! Has it been harder than you thought? Easier?

You are right, Jamie. It definitely is not easy at all, but it is so much better when we are all doing it together. I'm so thankful that you included me in the "40 days of discovery." I've learned so much about myself, about God, about the blessings I can receive by leaning on Him and having such good friends. My personal hardest time was last night. I had gotten up at 4 in the morning to run, which makes me kind of hungry all day. It had been a busy day at work, then I had a Relay meeting right after, so I didn't have time to eat dinner. It was about 7:30 when I headed home and I had to stop and get gas. Oh my, all the convenience store junk called my name so loud. But I managed to grab some cashews and get out of there without any Little Debbie cakes. Praise the Lord.
